Read the opinion piece in this week's Express (January 9, 2008, page A6), an apparent excerpt of Warren Beeson's comments at a school board meeting. I have two comments about this article:
1. The Express showed it's true colors by deciding to make this into an article, and to headline it, "Board behavior is unacceptable," on the Opinion page. I challenge them to run a similar piece headlined, "Superintendent's behavior is unacceptable." Plenty of well-spoken and intelligent community members have made statements about the need for changes in Robinson's behaviors at school board meetings, but none have become a featured article in our weekly newspaper. The Express favors Robinson vs. the voices for change: Small-town politics at work.
2. If you read the statement and substitute the words "the superintendent," or "Jim Robinson" for each reference to the school board, the comments in the article ring true. Try it yourself.

Rather than leave a lengthy comment, I just posted about this at my blog.
I can't remember a single time that Robinson tried to put something on the agenda the night of the meeting without bothering to tell anyone before hand?
When was the last time Robinson ignored legal advice and plunged the board into a reckless decision?
Debbie Shimmin saved the board and the board members from a huge lawsuit when she reversed Robinson's suspension.
When was the last board meeting where Robinson was presented a long list of violations by a district school and chose to ignore because he likes that particular school more than the others?
Urm, have you written a letter to the editor about your opinion? I don't think a newspaper can write someone else's opinion for them. Unless you mean they should write their own editorial?
So IE. I think you've made it clear how you feel about the school superintendent. However, I don't know where you stand on the school board's behavior and actions? Would you mind sharing your opinion with us?
I consider them to be two different issues.
